The 10 Best DVDs of 2004

After being the single distributor with the highest number of releases in any given year's Top 10 listing, the Criterion Collection finally made the number one spot this year with their outstading box set release of Robert Altman's mozaic masterpiece Short Cuts. The third and final Extended Edition entry in Peter Jackson's Tolkien trilogy nabbed the first runner-up position, while other Criterion releases to make the top ten were Fanny and Alexander and Videodrome.
