Quote
Hunchback: Well, well... If it isn't the smoker... Remember me, amigo?
Mortimer: [shaking his head] M-mh.
Hunchback: Course you do. El Paso.
Mortimer: [smiling] It's a small world.
Hunchback: Yes, and very, very bad. Now come on, you light another match... [turning the back of his neck towards Mortimer]
Mortimer: I generally smoke just after I eat. Why don't you come back in 'bout ten minutes...

Plot summary
Two bounty hunters team up reluctantly in hunting down a notorious killer.

Film review
The second film in the Eastwood/Leone 'Dollars Trilogy', For a Few Dollars More sees a vast improvement upon Fistful of Dollars in the addition of Lee van Cleef. His role as the mysterious Grim Reaper-like bounty hunter with the twinkle in his eye not only provides Eastwood with an interesting character to react to, it also adds a bit of weight to the otherwise paper-thin story. The obvious fun the two actors have and the often delicious stylistic touches that Leone spreads around the movie almost make up for the fact that the movie is much too long, as several sequences are drawn out beyond every reasonable length. As there isn't all that much ever happening in the story department, this would have been a real classic had it been edited down to 100 minutes.

Region 1 and Region 2 releases have different cover art but are otherwise identical.

Picture and sound
The widescreen image is letterboxed at 2.35:1. It provides an excellent picture even though it isn't anamorphic. Colors are very pale and washed out, but this is due to the cheap widescreen process (called Techniscope) that was used in shooting this picture. There are some defects in the source print, but this is the best the picture has ever looked, certainly on home video.
The Dolby Digital 1.0 mono sound is truly awful: it sounds tinny and shallow, and the American voices are very badly dubbed.

Added value
The theatrical trailer is the only extra feature on the disc. A 'collectable booklet' is included in the box, and for once it actually has some interesting, worthwhile information in there! The menus use art from the DVD cover, enlivened with some subtle animation and background sounds. The movie title is seen on a wooden sign that swings gently back and forth, and a 'Wanted' poster shows a clip from the movie in black-and-white.
